UK Track & Field Picks Up Nine Indoor All-America Honors

LEXINGTON, Ky. – Eight Kentucky track and field Wildcats combined to earn nine All-America honors from the recently completed indoor season, the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association announced on Monday.
The Kentucky women claimed eight of those honors. Everyone the Kentucky women’s team sent to Birmingham, Alabama for last weekend’s NCAA Championships were named to the First Team as all eight of them scored points in the events they entered.
Sha’Keela Saunders was UK’s lone double-All-American as she was named to the first team in both the long jump and triple jump. The junior is now a seven-time All-American. She has been named to the first team six times.
Rebecca Famurewa and Javianne Oliver were named to the first team in the weight throw and shot put respectively. Famurewa made the first team for the second time (2015 discus) , she earned second-team honors last season in the weight throw. Oliver earned First Team All-America honors for the first time.
Jasmine Mitchell, Ariah Graham, Destiny Carter and Kiah Seymour made the first team by virtue of their sixth-place finish in the 4×400-meter relay.
Tim Duckworth was named to the second team after finishing his first NCAA Championship heptathlon.
