BIRMINGHAM, Ala.  – The Kentucky women’s team placed 12th overall with 17 points – one point shy of a third consecutive indoor top-10 finish – at the 2016 NCAA Indoor Championships inside the CrossPlex on Saturday.

Kentucky finished in the top-15 at the NCAA Indoor Championships for the third year in a row, and in the top-20 for the fourth year in a row. The UK women’s team has finished top-20 at the NCAA Indoor Championships every year since Edrick Floréal took the helm of the program.
Oregon won the men’s and women’s team titles.
Kentucky added seven points on Saturday with scoring performances from Javianne Oliver, the 4×400-meter relay and Sha’Keela Saunders.
Oliver placed sixth in her first NCAA 60m final.  She ran 7.22, after her personal-best 7.20 to qualify on Friday. Her 7.20 is the second fastest time in school history.
Jasmine Mitchell, Destiny Carter, Ariah Graham and Kiah Seymour placed sixth overall to earn three points for Kentucky in the 4x400m relay. They ran 3:31.62.
Saunders picked up a point in the triple jump with a mark of 42-feet, 8.25 inches/13.0m. She finished the meet having earned nine points, after she claimed eight points with a Silver-Medal long jump on Friday.
Sophomore Tim Duckworth finished his first NCAA heptathlon 13th with 5062 points.
A re-air of the championship will take place on Sunday at 7 p.m. on ESPN2 and Wednesday, March 23 at 10 p.m. on ESPNU.
How the NCAA Championships work
The top-16 athletes and top-12 relay teams that declared for the Championships in their particular events, based on performances recorded this season, qualified for the Championships.
Athletes earn points for their teams at the NCAA Championships based on top-8 finishes on a 10-8-6-5-4-3-2-1 basis.
