Wildcats in the Pros -- Feb. 3

Each week, Wildcats in the Pros catches up with some former Kentucky student-athletes who are doing big things in professional athletics. 

Three former Wildcats have been selected to play in the 2016 NBA All-Star Game. 

Anthony Davis and John Wall, who were both selected with the first pick in their respective drafts, will each be making their third appearances in the game, while DeMarcus Cousins will make his second trip to the game.

Kentucky is the only school to have more than two representatives in the 2016 NBA All-Star Game. 

All three players are proving to be more than deserving of such an honor through their stellar performances this season.

Cousins is averaging 27 points and 11.3 rebounds per game, and is the only player in the league who ranks in the top five in both categories. He’s also fourth in the NBA with 26 double-doubles. 

Davis ranks second in the league with 2.4 blocks per game, in addition to averaging 22.9 points and 10.3 rebounds. Wall, Kentucky’s first-ever No. 1 draft pick, currently averages 19.5 points per game, and ranks third among the league in assists (9.8) and fifth in steals (2.09). 

The NBA All-Star Game will be played in the Air Canada Centre in Toronto on Feb.14 and can be seen on TNT. 

Former Kentucky golfer J.B. Holmes finished in a tie for sixth place in the 2016 Farmers Insurance Open last weekend. Playing at the famous Torrey Pines Golf Club in San Diego, Holmes finished in the Top 10 for the second straight year. He finished in a tie for second last year, losing to Jason Day in a playoff.

This week, Holmes returns to a spot on tour where he has had great success. On Thursday, Holmes will tee off in the Waste Management Phoenix Open, which is played at TPC Scottsdale.

Holmes got his first two PGA Tour wins in this event. In 2006, he blew away the field, winning by seven strokes for his first PGA Tour victory. Then in 2008, Holmes beat local favorite Phil Mickelson in a playoff for his second Tour win.
