Team Records and Series Notes
? UK picked up its second ever victory against Duke with a 71-61 win inside Rupp Arena. It was the first win against the team since a 72-65 victory on Dec. 8, 2011.
? The win marked the second ranked team that the Wildcats have defeated this season, having taken down then-No. 15/15 Arizona State on Oct. 15. Coach Matthew Mitchell moves to 88-43 all-time against ranked opponents.
? With the victory, UK moves to 10-0 on the season. UK has only had three other seasons in which it started out with 10 consecutive victories (2009-10, 2011-12, 2013-14).
? The meeting was the seventh between the two teams, with UK moving to 2-5 in the all-time series.
? UK played in front of a crowd of 17,150, the fourth-largest in program history.
? Matthew Mitchell is in his ninth season with Kentucky and the win moves him to 234-110 overall, including a 204-81 record while at Kentucky.
Team Notes
? Kentucky took the lead from the first basket and never relinquished it for the remainder of the contest.
? The duo of Azurá Stevens and Rebecca Greenwell, who led the ACC in scoring with a combined 33.2 points per game, was held to just 18 points, including just one point from Greenwell.
? UK shot 48.3% from the field while holding Duke to a .367 clip.
? Kentucky held a 38-36 advantage in the paint and a 21-11 edge in points off turnovers.
? Duke held the advantage in rebounding, 38-28, holding UK to just six offensive rebounds. The Blue Devils also had a 26-8 advantage in bench points and a 24-8 edge in second chance points.
? UK forced Duke into 17 turnovers while only committing 13 miscues.
? UK scored its first eight points solely in the paint.
? The Wildcats led 22-13 at the end of the first period, courtesy of a buzzer-beating 3-pointer from Janee Thompson.
? UK outscored Duke 12-4 in the paint in the first period, with an 11-2 advantage in points off turnovers.
? Kentucky led 38-30 at the half, shooting 50.0% from the field while holding Duke to 38.5%. The Wildcats were also flawless from the free throw line in the half, connecting on 8-of-8 shots from the charity stripe. It marked just the second time this season that the Wildcats have been unblemished from the free throw line in a half (the other being the first half against Middle Tennessee on Dec. 13 when the team went 6-of-6).
Individual Notes
? Evelyn Akhator was two points off her career high, leading the team with 18 points and six rebounds and a team-best two steals.
? Makayla Epps scored 17 points with eight assists. Epps has scored 15 or more points in four straight games.
? Janee Thompson also added 17 points along with a steal.
o Thompson went 3-of-4 from the 3-point line, marking the fifth time this season that she has made at least three triples.
? Maci Morris fell just shy of double digits, posting nine points. She continued her streak of making at least one 3-pointer.
