Meet the Wildcats: Jordan Chael

LEXINGTON, Ky. – In preparation for the Kentucky women’s golf team’s return to the course in late January for the all-important spring season, UKathletics.com will be featuring a profile on each of the Wildcats in the “Meet the Wildcats” series. The weekly series is an opportunity to get to know a little more about the 2015-16 Kentucky women’s golf team.
The series tees off with junior Jordan Chael.
Chael just completed the fall season at Kentucky after transferring from Nebraska. Chael posted a pair of top-40 finishes in the fall, including a team-best 10th-place finish at the season-opening Minnesota Invitational.
Before coming to Kentucky, Chael was a standout at Nebraska. She led the Cornhuskers in scoring average in her sophomore season and posted four top-10 finishes in her two years in the program.
Prior to her collegiate career Chael was a high-school star. As a senior at St. Thomas Aquinas High School, she won the Kansas Class 5A individual state championship in October of 2012, while leading St. Thomas Aquinas to the state team title. During her final three seasons at Aquinas, she won or tied for first in 21 of 27 tournaments.
Over the summer, she won the Missouri Women’s Golf Association Amateur Championship.

Meet Jordan

Her definition of a true hero is … someone that leads and inspires others and has had enough success to get away with being a jerk, yet isn’t.
Her most prized possession is … my family.
Most people don’t know this about Jordan but … I’m naturally left-handed and I probably would have played golf left-handed but my dad didn’t want to buy another set of golf clubs when I started because we already had an old set from my brother. My dad didn’t really expect me to stick with it but I got hooked pretty quick and never switched.
Besides golf, her favorite activity is … hanging out with friends.
The person that has influenced her the most in her life is … my Aunt Becky, which is where my middle name comes from. She is my mom’s sister and she never had kids so she pretty much treats me and my brother as her own.
20151203174156_jordan_and_trophy_final_jpgHer most memorable moment as a golfer is … winning the Missouri Women’s Amateur this past summer.
Her greatest fear is … failing.
She chose Kentucky because … of the commitment to women’s golf here. I knew early on that, as a Wildcat, I would be pushed in many different ways to become the best golfer and person I can be.
The talent that she would most like to have is … I’d love to be good at public speaking.
Her favorite golfer who she molds her game after is … Suzann Peterson.
Her favorite movie is … The Holiday.
The most famous person she’s ever met is … Cole Aldrich.
The first person she asked for an autograph from was … Gary Player.
Her secret talent is … painting my nails.
The toughest course she’s ever played is … French Lick.
The one course she wants to play is … Prairie Dunes.
If she could play golf with a dream foursome, she would invite … my dad, my brother and my grandpa.
Kentucky returns to the course Jan. 31 vs. Louisville.
As always, fans can follow the team on TwitterFacebook and Instagram, as well as on the web at UKathletics.com, for the latest Kentucky women’s golf information.
