UK Rifle Signs Ian Foos to NLI
LEXINGTON,
Ky. – Kentucky rifle announced on Thursday that Ian Foos signed a national
letter of intent to attend the University of Kentucky where he will compete on
the rifle team.
Foos –
a Bellvue, Ohio, product – won the USA Shooting National Championship in
10-meter air rifle last summer.
“We are
very excited that Ian is going to join our Wildcat family,” UK head coach Harry
Mullins said. “He has come a long way in the sport of shooting and possess a
great passion for the game. Watching him compete over the years you can really
see the intensity he brings to the matches.”
Foos
has national team experience having earned a score good enough for a spot in
the USA Shooting Winter Air Gun Qualifiers at last summer’s ISSF Junior World
Cup.
“Although
he is mainly known for air rifle right now I feel that with consistent training
he will be a strong all-around shooter in the near future. He has played team
sports in his high school career and thus understands the value of the teamconcepts that we emphasize here. I feel he will be a great teammate and a
strong contributor towards UK rifle meeting its goals in the future.
During
his prep career Foos has won multiple state championships, regional
championships, and won the Montgomery Bell Academy Rifle Classic last month,
the largest high school sponsored shooting event in the U.S.
“Kentucky
just felt like home. The team is like a family down there,” Foos told the
News-Messenger. “Once I went down there, it was like I was a part of the
family.”
