UK to Host Pregame Concert for Florida Game

LEXINGTON, Ky. – After the success of a pregame concert before the grand opening of The New Commonwealth Stadium, UK Athletics will host a concert featuring the Jordan English Band and JD Shelburne before Kentucky football’s game vs. Florida on Sept. 19.

“We heard from countless fans about how much they enjoyed the concert we hosted for grand opening,” Associate Athletics Director for Marketing Nathan Schwake said. “Having live music was a great addition to the tailgating experience and helped make the Cat Walk as good as it’s ever been. We’re excited to have Kentucky natives and UK fans do the same for the Florida game.”

The concert will be held next to the Glenn Infiniti of Lexington Green Lot adjacent to Gate 1 of The New CWS. The Jordan English Band will headline the show and play starting at 4:30 p.m. before breaking for the Cat Walk at 5:15 p.m. Following the Cat Walk, the band will will play an encore. Shelburne will open the concert at 3 p.m.

English is a Lexington native who has developed a following in his hometown. He and his band play a combination of acoustic, funk and soul music. Shelburne, originally from Taylorsville, Ky., and a 2007 UK graduate, is a country artist now based out of Nashville. Currently on tour, Shelburne has opened for more than 50 national acts and recently released a music video for his upcoming single, “Hometown.”

Limited single-game tickets for the Florida game are available to the public, as well as limited season tickets and mini-packs. Tickets can be purchased by visiting ukfootballtix.com.

The New CWS opened earlier this month after a $126 million renovation transformed the longtime home of Kentucky football. The stadium features a striking exterior; new concourses, concessions and restrooms; premium-seating areas; new team facilities; and a state-of-the-art recruiting room.
