Dooley’s Hat Trick , Gorgol’s First-Career Goal Lead UK Past Toledo

Box Score | Highlights

LEXINGTON, Ky. – Junior Michaela Dooley
netted her first-career hat trick on Sunday afternoon, scoring three of
Kentucky’s seven goals en route to a 7-0 win over the Toledo Rockets at the
Wendell & Vickie Bell Soccer Complex.

It was a night of firsts for Kentucky, as
senior Allie Gorgol and freshman Sophie Babo both scored their first-career
goals and freshman Becca Callison tallied her first-career point on the
Wildcats’ seventh goal.

Kentucky led 1-0 at the half, scoring in the
second minute thanks to a great team goal that was finished by Dooley for her
first of the night. Senior Olivia Jester played a wonderful ball into space to
Zoe Swift, who turned the corner on her defender and played a square ball to
Jade Klump and fired a pass across to Dooley for the 1-0 lead. UK had a 9-0
edge in shots, and 6-0 lead in shots on goal at the break.

UK would come out firing in the second half,
scoring six goals in a single half for just the second time in school history
(vs. Bellarmine, Oct. 29, 1992). Zoe Swift would score her second goal of the
season and first of the match in the 50th minute after a long throw
by Dooley was flicked on by Kaitlin Miller, and poked home by Swift.

Dooley would score in the 60th and
66th minute to cap off the hat trick, giving her three goals and two
assists on the night, tying her for the second-most single points in a single
match with Annie Gage (vs. Alabama, 10/26/2001), and Guileana Lopez (vs. EKU,
9/1/06). The hat trick by Dooley was the sixth in UK history, and the first
since Zoe Swift’s three-goal effort vs. EKU on Aug. 30, 2013.

Senior Allie Gorgol would make it 6-0 in the
76th minute, scoring her first-career goal on a rifle into the back-side
netting after freshman Sophie Babo served in a wonderful ball to the box that
was finished by the Fishers, Ind., native.

Kentucky capped off its scoring in the 82nd
minute when Babo scored her first-career goal off a header from a corner. The corner
was served in by freshman Becca Callison, who collected her first-career point
with the assist.

Freshman goalkeeper Katelyn Jensen kept her
third clean sheet in four matches, running her GAA to .051 on the season, and
earning back-to-back shutouts for the first time in her career. She was forced
to make one save on the night.

Kentucky will face Louisville in the annual
