LEXINGTON, Ky. – The University of
Kentucky women’s soccer team picked up a 3-0 shutout win over the UNC
Greensboro Titans on Friday night behind a goal and two assists from senior
captain Courtney Raetzman. The Wildcats with the win improve to 2-1-0 on the
season and will host Toledo on Sunday night at 6 p.m. ET in its week two
finale.

Kentucky dominated the match in every sense of
the word, outshooting the Titans 17-3 overall, and had the 5-1 edge in corner
kicks as well. Zoe Swift led the Wildcats with five shots, including the third
goal of the match. Freshman Sophie Babo had four shots.

UK got the scoring started in the eighth minute
with a goal from junior Jade Klump. The ball was played in from Raetzman, and
Klump played a dummy move to the left, initiating the defender to overrun the
ball, and allowed Klump to fire it into the back of the net to the keepers
left. It was Klump’s first goal of the season.

The Wildcats would add another goal before
halftime, as Raetzman would score her second goal in three matches, with a
great team goal. Babo and Swift knocked the ball around the top of the 18
before Raetzman got the ball 12 yards from goal and beat the keeper far post.

At halftime, UK led 2-0 with UNCG not able to
get a shot or shot on goal registered.

In the second half, Kentucky would add a third
goal with Swift poking a ball past the keeper after a great advantage play by the
referee after Raetzman was fouled, dispossessing her of the ball 23 yards from
goal.

Raetzman was the star of the match, and has
been the star of the season, as she has scored or assisted on all three UK
goals this season.

Kentucky hosts Toledo on Sunday night at 6
p.m. ET at the Bell Soccer Complex.
