LEXINGTON, Ky. — Five Kentucky baseball standouts earned all-star accolades, highlighting the 18 UK student-athletes who played in collegiate leagues during the summer. Below is a complete summer recap.

Marcus Carson, Jr., OF – Northwoods League (St. Cloud Rox)
Had a strong summer in the Northwoods League, batting .263 (20-for-76) in 23 games, with three doubles, two doubles and six RBI … Had eight walks and six strikeouts, stealing two bases … Played in two games in June, before returning to the Rox for 21 games in June and early August.

Dylan Dwyer, Sr., LHP – Northwoods League (Wisconsin Woodchucks)
Appeared in 12 games with 11 starts in the Northwoods League, owning a 4-6 record and a 5.46 ERA … Worked 59.1 innings, allowing 69 hits and 24 walks, striking out 37 … Allowed one run on three hits in seven innings on June 25 … Tossed 8.2 shutout innings on July 1, allowing only six hits and a walk … Worked seven shutout innings on July 23, allowing only three hits and a walk.

Marshall Gei, R-Fr., C/IF – Futures League (Brockton Rox)
Played in 24 games for the Brockton Rox, hitting .373 (31-for-83) with nine runs, four doubles and 10 RBI, drawing six walks and striking out nine times … Totaled multi-hit games in 13 of his 24 outings, with a pair of three-hit games.

Dorian Hairston, Sr., OF – Coastal Plains League (Martinsville)
Played in 46 games with 41 starts in the Coastal Plains League, batting .258 (40-for-155) with five doubles, one triple, three homers and 25 RBI … Stole 13-of-16 bases, with a .361 slugging and a .348 on-base percentage … Had two outfield assists … Owned 18 walks and 31 strikeouts, getting plunked by four pitches.

Connor Heady, Jr., IF – Northwoods League (Wisconsin Woodchucks)
Played in 34 games for the Woodchucks in the Northwoods League … Hit .220 with six doubles, one triple and five RBI, owning nine walks and 32 strikeouts … Stole three bases.

Zach Logue, So., LHP – Perfect Game League (Amsterdam)

  • PGCBL Pitcher of the Year
  • PGCBL All-Star (SP)

The Pitcher of the Year in the PGCBL, went 8-0 with a 2.21 ERA in 10 starts … Tossed 57 innings, allowing only 14 walks and 45 hits, striking out 55 … Last seven starts were all quality outings and he allowed only four earned runs over his final 24 innings … In a win on July 8, Logue totaled 10 strikeouts and didn’t issue a walk, allowing just one run … Earned the win in the PGCBL Playoff opener with six innings, allowing one run on four hits … First three starts lasted five innings before working six innings in his final seven starts.

Justin Lewis, R-Fr., RHP – Perfect Game League (Elmira)

  • PGCBL All-Star (SP)

Earned all-star honors in the PGCBL, appearing in nine games with eight starts … Had a 5-1 record and a 1.36 ERA in 55.2 innings … Allowed only 12 walks and 38 hits, striking out 32 … Worked seven quality starts on the summer … Allowed one earned run or less in six of his starts.

Riley Mahan, So., IF – Perfect Game League (Amsterdam)

  • PGCBL All-Star (SS)

The starting shortstop in the PGCBL All-Star Game … Hit .303 (47-for-155) with 38 runs, 11 doubles, one triple, three homers and 21 RBI … Stole 14 bases and had a 29-27 walk-strikeout ratio … Belted a pair of homers in a 2-for-3 game on July 15, with a summer-high three RBI … Drew four walks on June 19 … Went 4-for-6 in the playoff opener with a double and RBI … Ran up a 12-game hitting streak early in the summer … Had 10 multi-hit games.

Blake Oyler, R-Sr., RHP – Futures Collegiate League (Brockton)

Appeared in 14 games with three starts in the Futures Collegiate League … Had a 4-3 record and a 2.97 ERA with a save in 42.1 innings, walking 18 and striking out 28, surrendering only 35 hits … Worked six shutout innings in a start on July 9 … Earned wins with at least four innings three times, also working four shutout innings on June 13.

Zach Pop, So., RHP – Northwoods League (St. Cloud)

Had a strong summer in the Northwoods League, working in 12 games with 11 starts, owning a 6-2 record and a 2.56 ERA … Tossed 52.2 innings, allowing 44 hits and 19 walks, striking out 40 … Worked 2.1 innings over two games in the NWL Playoffs … Participated in the Northwoods League Showcase, earning the start and win … Worked four quality starts.

Jared Proctor, R-Fr., LHP – Perfect Game League (Elmira)

Teamed with Justin Lewis on Elmira in the Perfect Game League … Appeared in 12 games with nine starts, owning a 3-4 record and a 4.99 ERA … Tossed 48.2 innings, allowing 47 hits and 36 walks, striking out 48 … Earned a pair of wins with five-inning outings, including five shutout, three-hit innings on July 7.

Logan Salow, Jr., LHP – Cape Cod League (Hyannis)

Was a weapon in the Hyannis bullpen in the Cape Cod League … Appeared in 12 games in relief, owning a 3.05 ERA in 17.2 innings, allowing 20 hits and 11 walks, striking out 14 … Tossed at least two innings without allowing an earned run four times, including 3.1 innings on July 8 and three shutout on July 30.

Brad Schaenzer, So., LHP – Perfect Game League (Amsterdam)

Had a strong summer for the Amsterdam Mohawks, while teaming with Riley Mahan and Zach Logue … Went 5-1 with a 3.17 ERA in 10 starts in the regular-season, tossing 51 innings, allowing 40 hits and 23 walks, striking out 31 … Tossed consecutive shutout outings in early July, seven innings with three hits and six innings with three hits allowed … Worked three quality starts.

JaVon Shelby, Jr., IF/OF – Cape Cod League (Hyannis)

Played in 23 games for the Hyannis Harbor Hawks in the Cape Cod League … Ripped six doubles, one homer and drove in seven runs, scoring 11 times … Had seven walks, struck out 21 times and stole one base … Summer was cut short on July 7 … Went 3-forf-5 with two doubles in his first game of the summer … Had six multi-hit games, including a pair of three-hit outings … Hit a homer on June 25.

Troy Squires, R-So., C/IF – Perfect Game League (Elmira)

Joined Jared Proctor and Justin Lewis on Elmira in the PGCBL … Played in 26 games, batting .221 (21-for-95) with 11 runs, three doubles and 13 RBI, stealing two bases … Had 10 walks and 10 strikeouts … Collected six multi-hit games.

Zach Strecker, R-Sr., RHP – Northwoods League (Willmar)

Continued his stretch of dominating summers in his collegiate career, pitching in 11 games with nine starts in the Northwoods League … Had a 7-2 record and a 2.17 ERA, tossing 57 innings, allowing 54 hits and 24 walks, striking out 35 … Worked seven quality starts, including a summer-long eight innings with two earned runs on July 23 … Won five consecutive appearances from July 12 to Aug. 5, before working an inning in relief in the lone Stingers playoff game of the summer.

Bo Wilson, R-Sr., RHP – Valley League (Aldie)

Worked in 12 games in relief in the regular season for Aldie, owning a 2-0 record and a 5.92 ERA with five saves in 13.2 innings … Allowed only three walks, with 18 hits and six strikeouts … Earned a three-inning save with only a hit allowed on June 25.

Storm Wilson, R-Jr., OF – Northwoods League (Willmar)

  • Northwoods League All-Star (OF)

Enjoyed an all-star summer in the Northwoods League, helping Willmar to the playoffs … Hit .304 (52-for-171) in 50 games, with 37 runs, 12 doubles, one triple, five homers and 29 RBI … Stole 22 bases and sported a 29-28 walk-strikeout ratio … Had 10 multi-hit games, including a 4-for-5 outing with a homer and three RBI on July 29 … Had a homer and four RBI on June 26.

Robert Zeigler, Jr., RHP – Nortwoods League (Wisconsin Woodchucks)

  • Northwoods League All-Star (RP)

Appeared in 21 games with two starts during an all-star summer in the Northwoods League … Totaled a 1-2 record and a 3.28 ERA, notching eight saves in 24.2 innings, allowing 17 hits and 20 walks, striking out 38 … Ranked fifth in the league in saves … First eight outings were scoreless, over 9.2 innings.
