LEXINGTON, Ky. – After making it into the Sweet 16 at the 2015 NCAA Tournament, Junior Aldila Sutjiadi and Sophomore Mami Adachi are no strangers to elite doubles play as they have been selected by the National Tournament Committee as an at-large pairing to compete at the 2015 Oracle/ITA Masters.
“We are very excited that Aldila and Mami have gotten invited to the Oracle tournament,” head coach Carlos Drada said. “This announcement is a testament to our progress as a team and that we are moving in line with the goals of our athletic department. We are looking forward to a great season.”
This event is in its inaugural season and showcases the top 16 returning singles players and top eight doubles teams. Pairings participating can be equated to the field of the quarterfinals at the NCAA Tournament, including the returning NCAA Champion and USTA/ITA Indoor Champion. This national collegiate championship will be held on Sept. 18-20 at the Malibu Racquet Club in Malibu, California.
“I’m very excited about being selected for this tournament,” Sujtiadi said. “It’s a great opportunity for Mami and me to show what we can do. We will do our best to accomplish great things there.”
Sutjiadi and Adachi finished the season ranked 26th after picking up six wins at No. 1 doubles and defeating the 12th ranked pairing of Kelsey Laurente and Viktoryia Lushkova from Oklahoma State to advance to the Sweet 16 in the NCAA Tournament.
