Kentucky Picks Up First Place Vote, Picked Third in SEC Coaches Poll

LEXINGTON, Ky. – The University of
Kentucky women’s soccer team was picked to finish third in the 2015
Southeastern Conference season, the league’s head coaches predicted in the
annual coaches poll that was released on Monday afternoon.

Kentucky finished third a season ago in the
SEC, matching its program-best finish. With 140 points, Kentucky also received
one first-place vote. Monday marked the first time under head coach Jon Lipsitz
that Kentucky has received a first-place vote.

UK returns nine of 11 starters from a season
ago, which saw the Wildcats advance to the Sweet 16 for the first time in
program history.

Florida was picked to win the league,
garnering 167 points and 11 of the 14 first-place votes.

Points were compiled on a
13-12-11-10-9-8-7-6-5-4-3-2-1 basis, though each coach was not allowed to vote
for their own team.

The 23rd season of women’s soccer
in the SEC?season
begins August 21.
