Kentucky Women’s Team, Eight Individuals Named All-Academic
LEXINGTON. Ky. – The Kentucky women’s track and field team and eight individual Wildcats earned All-Academic distinction from the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association on Friday.
Six women and two men were named All-Academic.
Teams earned All-Academic honors as a result of earning a cumulative team GPA of 3.00 or higher. Kentucky’s women’s team had a 3.07 grade point average this past academic year to go along with a National Runner-up finish outdoors and fifth place indoors.
Dezerea Bryant, Ariah Graham, Kendra Harrison, Javianne Oliver, Daje Pugh and Angelica Whaley were the women who were All-Academic selections.
Mackay Wilson and Fred Dorsey were the Kentucky men who earned All-Academic distinction.
Bryant, Graham, Harrison and Whaley were also All-Americans this season on the track.
Two of UK’s selections were also named Academic All-Americans earlier this season – Dezerea Bryant and Kendra Harrison.
Bryant and Harrison are each two-time NCAA Champions. Harrison is a finalist for the Bowerman Award, the highest individual honor in collegiate track and field.
To qualify for the USTFCCCA All-Academic Track and Field Team, the student-athlete must have compiled a cumulative grade point average of 3.25 and have met at least one of the following athletic standards: For the indoor season, a student-athlete must have finished the regular season ranked in the national top 96 in an individual event or ranked in the national top 48 (collective listing) in a relay event on the official NCAA POP list provided by TFRRS.org. For the outdoor season, a student-athlete must have participated in any round of the NCAA Division I Championships (including preliminary rounds).
