LEXINGTON, Ky. — The University of Kentucky women’s soccer team has announced its first promotion for the 2015 season, centering on this month’s FIFA Women’s World Cup to be held starting on Saturday in Canada. The quad-annual tournament is the biggest of its kind in women’s athletics, and UK women’s soccer will be giving away season tickets and other prizes to kick off the 2015 season to fans who use the hashtag #UK4USA to show their support of the United States during the tournament.
Kentucky women’s soccer will be using the hashtag #UK4USA throughout the tournament, and will be giving away a set of 2015 season tickets on all of the United States’ matchdays during the tournament. Season tickets will be awarded based off of pictures and tweets sent in by fans through social media networks to the UK women’s soccer networking accounts.
Beginning on Monday for the USA’s first group stage match, fans will be asked to send in their pictures from watch parties and gameday sites, sporting their United States gear, with the most spirited fans being selected as the winners each time the US takes the pitch to those who submit their submissions to #UK4USA. Fans should also be advised that any student who is considered a “recruitable-age” by the NCAA (9-12 grades), will not be eligible to win any prizes due to NCAA rules.

Kentucky is coming off the best season in program history in 2014, as UK advanced to the NCAA Tournament Sweet 16, as well as finishing fourth in the Southeastern Conference, and getting to the SEC Tournament Championship game against Texas A&M for just the second time in program history. Kentucky was selected as a host site yet again for the NCAA Tournament, where UK advanced to the Charlottesville Regional, and advanced 3-1 over Arizona State from three goals, all scored by returning players, including one from Raetzman and Ledman, captains for 2015.
