UK Rifle Announces 2015 Signings

LEXINGTON, Ky. — The Kentucky rifle team has announced three signings to join the program for the 2015-16 season. Hanna Carr, Cathryn Papasodoro and Jason Spaude have all signed National Letters of Intent.
“I think these three bring unique dynamics to the freshman class,” UK rifle head coach Harry Mullins said. “These are people who are ready to make the decision to choose Kentucky as their home for the next four years to pursue their athletic dreams and their academic endeavors.”
Carr, a native of Versailles, Kentucky, has experienced success at every level of the junior rifle ranks. She was the 2014 NRA National Champion for international three-position smallbore. Carr recently claimed the Smallbore Three-Position Rifle Silver Medal at the USA Shooting Junior Olympics.
She was the Three-Position Silver Medalist at the Junior Olympics in 2011. She also boasts a Kentucky State Junior Air Rifle Championship, and has competed at multiple USA Shooting Championships.
Papasodora, a product of Anchorage, Alaska, joins UK wilth experience at multiple Junior Olympics.
Most recently, she was the 26th place air rifle finish earlier this month at the USA Shooting Junior Olympics.
Spaude, a Saginaw, Michigan product, also joins UK proven to be an elite competitor at every level he has reached. He was the Junior Three-Position State Junior Olympic Champion in 2011.
Spaude broke NRA junior records in smallbore during his time as a prep competitor.
“I feel that they all bring unique skillsets to the table,” Mullins said. “They’ve shown that in the past year and half, two years in junior club shooting and a little bit on the Junior Olympic scene. I think they’re grounded individuals.
“Moving forward this creates an opportunity for them to really get focused on what they want to do when they get here as far as team goals. (Assistant coach) Rena (Goodwin) and I are both very excited. They’re high-energy individuals that understand the team concept and I feel the energy they’re going to bring, and the work ethic, which is demonstrated by what they’ve done both athletically and academically will enhance the program.”
