LEXINGTON, Ky. — Georgia scored multiple runs in five innings and got a four-hit, four-RBI game from Skyler Weber, posting a 12-3 win over Kentucky to even the three-game series, on a sunny Saturday afternoon at Cliff Hagan Stadium.

Kentucky (27-22, 12-13 Southeastern Conference) jumped out to an early lead in the first inning on a pair of passed balls, before the Bulldogs rallied with two runs in each the second, third and fourth innings, adding a three-run fifth, a single run in the seventh and two runs in the eighth. UK scored single runs in the fifth and sixth innings.

UK starter Dustin Beggs (7-3) worked 6 innings and gave up nine runs — six earned – on 10 hits. Beggs picked up the loss, which is his first in his last five starts. Lefty Dylan Dwyer took over in the top of the sixth, but was relieved by Robert Zeigler in the top of the seventh. Ziegler came away with three strikeouts and gave up one hit in one inning of work. Freshman Brad Schaenzer took to the mound to start the eighth inning and pitched 0.1 innings, allowing one run on three hits with a strikeout. A native of Brampton, Canada, Zach Pop, who relieved Schaenzer, pitched 1.2 innings with two strikeouts.

The Wildcats had six hits in the game, led by Kyle Barrett who went 3-for-5 with a triple in the fifth inning. Junior leftfielder Ka’ai Tom has reached base safely in 45 of 49 games this season while reaching 93 times in 104 career games, going 2-for-2 and reaching base in five trips to the plate. UK also got a hit from Zach Arnold, with Tom, JaVon Shelby, Dorian Hairston and Thomas Bernal each adding walks.

Georgia (23-26, 8-17 SEC) starter Ryan Lawlor (5-6) worked five innings, allowing two hits, one of which was a triple, and three runs with no strikeouts and six batters walked. With no outs in the sixth, Jared Cheek replaced Lawlor on the mound, pitching four innings with one strike out after facing 17 batters. Cheek would get the save.

The series will conclude on Sunday at 12 p.m. at Cliff Hagan Stadium.

The Wildcats scored the first run of the game on a passed ball in the first inning to take an early lead. Tom would score from third on the play after singling to leftfield earlier in the inning.

In the bottom of the fifth inning, Barrett got his third triple of the season and later scored on a groundout from Evan White.

Bernal’s RBI total moved to 25 on the season after scoring Hairston, who drew a walk, from third base in the bottom of the sixth inning.

The Bulldogs scored two runs in the second, third, and fourth and three in the fifth before UK got on the board again in the fifth and sixth innings. Weber went 4-for-5 at the plate with three doubles and four RBI. Stephen Wrenn and Mitchell Webb were 3-for-5, with Wrenn getting two RBI and his eighth homers of the year.
