LEXINGTON, Ky. — Kendra Harrison was named Southeastern Conference Runner of the Week on Tuesday after she became the sixth fastest collegian ever in the 100-meter hurdles last weekend.
Harrison, the reigning NCAA 60m hurdles Champion, took the NCAA lead in the women’s 100m hurdles with a winning time of 12.62 (+0.9) at Florida’s Tom Jones Memorial Invitational on Friday.
Harrison became tied for the sixth-fastest collegian ever with a time that tied for the ninth-fastest in NCAA history.
The performance broke Harrison’s own Kentucky school record.
Harrison is now the NCAA leader in the 100m and 400m hurdles, as she ran 54.94 on the same track at the Florida Relays earlier this month.
In Harrison’s win at UF, she defeated 2015 NCAA 60m runner-up Bridgette Owens, who ran a season-best 12.87 in the race.
Harrison is expected to compete at this weekend’s Kentucky Relays, where she will also go through Senior Day festivities.
She will look to defend her SEC 100m hurdles and 400m hurdles Titles in two weeks at the SEC Championships, hosted by Mississippi State.
