Sutjiadi, Lewis honored with All-SEC Team Accolades

LEXINGTON, Ky. – University of Kentucky women’s tennis players Aldila Sutjiadi earned Second Team All-Southeastern Conference honors and Kirsten Lewis was named to the SEC Community Service Team, the league announced.
Sutjiadi was named to the conference’s Second Team for the second consecutive season, while Lewis earned her first career Community Service Team accolades.
A sophomore from Jakarta, Indonesia, Sutjiadi’s second team honors mark the third consecutive season a Wildcat has earned First or Second Team All-SEC accolades, the longest streak since 2008.
Lewis joins teammates Edmee Morin-Kougoucheff and Grace Trimble having been named to the SEC Community Service Team. Trimble was recognized in 2012 and ’14, while Morin-Kougoucheff was selected to the team in 2013.
Sutjiadi went 12-7 in singles competition in 2015, with eight wins over individuals from ranked teams. She went undefeated in her first nine matches of the season, with eight wins and one unfinished match.
In doubles action, Sutjiadi holds an 11-8 record. When paired with Mami Adachi, the duo posted wins over four ranked opponents, two of which came against doubles pairs currently ranked in the top five nationally, in No. 1 Erin Routliffe and Maya Jensen of Alabama and No. 5 Brooke Austin, the SEC Player and Freshman of the Year, and Kourtney Keegan of Florida. Sutjiadi and Adachi are currently ranked 28th in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association Doubles rankings. Sutjiadi was also paired with Nadia Ravita and recorded a record of 4-2.
Lewis’ community service work was highlighted by a 10-day service trip to Ethiopia with a group of UK student-athletes. The group repainted schools, helped build houses and interacted with several communities. Lewis also made blankets as part of the UK Blanket Project, passed United Way collection buckets at UK football games and served food to the homeless at the Hope Center. The junior from Birmingham, Ala., has been a Salvation Army Bell Ringer, assisted at Breakfast with Santa and was a National Student-Athlete Day Craft Center event volunteer.
Up next for No. 24 Kentucky is the NCAA Regionals, where the Wildcats are expected to earn their second consecutive NCAA berth. Regionals are held May 8-10 at campus sites. The NCAA Selection Show is scheduled for April 28 at 5 p.m. ET.
