Women's Tennis Edged By LSU to Begin Final Roadtrip of 2015

BATON ROUGE, La. – The No. 21 Kentucky women’s tennis team began its final roadtrip of the regular season with a 4-0 loss at No. 27 LSU on Thursday afternoon.
The Wildcats (15-10, 6-5 Southeastern Conference) were facing their fifth consecutive top-50 team and the sixth top-30 team in league play. The Tigers (17-8, 7-5 SEC) entered the day having won five of their last six.
Two of LSU’s singles players are ranked in the top 76, while the Tigers have one doubles pair ranked.
Kentucky lost the doubles point to open the match. Nadia Ravita and Kirsten Lewis fell on court No. 2, 8-2, before Mami Adachi and Aldila Sutjiadi were edged at No. 1 doubles, 8-7 (6-3) by No. 50 Joana Vale Costa and Noel Scott.
In singles play, Sutjiadi could not finish her match at No. 1 singles and retired, trailing 6-3, 3-0 to No. 35 Vale Costa. Kelsey Dieters lost at No. 3 singles, 6-1, 6-4 to give LSU a 3-0 lead.
The Tigers clinched the match on court two, with a 7-5, 6-4 win. Ravita was defeated by No. 76 Skylar Kuykendall.
When play concluded, Adachi held a 6-4, 5-4 lead at No. 4 singles. Lewis was in the third set on court No. 5, tied at 1-1 after she dropped the first set, 6-2 and won the second, 6-1. On the sixth court, Stephanie Fox also was leading, 7-6 (7-2), 3-1.
Kentucky concludes regular-season action Sunday at No. 10 Texas A&M. The postseason begins at the SEC Tournament, April 14-19 in Columbia, S.C.
