Wildcats Fall to South Carolina in Home Finale

LEXINGTON, Ky. — In its final home competition of the season, the No. 20 Kentucky women’s tennis team fell to No. 31 South Carolina, 4-0 on Sunday.
Competing outside for the first time this season at the Hilary J. Boone Tennis Complex, the Wildcats began the day by honoring its four seniors, Kelsey Dieters, Stephanie Fox, Edmée Morin-Kougoucheff, and Grace Trimble.
UK dropped to 15-9 on the season and 6-4 in SEC play. Kentucky lost just its third match at home in 2015.
The Wildcats dropped the doubles point to open the match. No. 37 Meghan Blevins and Brigit Folland defeated UK’s Kirsten Lewis and Nadia Ravita, 8-4 at No. 2 doubles before Kelsey Dieters and Edmée Morin-Kougoucheff fell 8-2 on court three.
In singles action, Mami Adachi fell 6-3, 6-2 on court No. 4. Morin-Kougoucheff dropped a 6-1, 6-3 match at No. 6 singles before USC claimed the match with a 6-4, 6-4 win over Ravita on court two.
When play concluded, Lewis was in the third set at No. 5 singles after she won the first set, 6-3 and dropped the second, 6-1. Dieters had managed to fight back on court three to tie the second set, 4-4 after she lost the opener, 6-3.
