Flynn, Higgins Qualify for NCAA Men's Championships

LEXINGTON, Ky. -University of Kentucky swimmers Brandon Flynn and Kyle Higgins have been invited to the 2015 NCAA Division I Men’s Swimming and Diving Championships, it was announced today.

Flynn and Kyle, both sophomores, will represent the Wildcats at the national championships in Iowa City, Iowa, March 26-28. Divers will look to qualify at the NCAA Zone Diving Championships, March 12-14.

Flynn will make his second NCAA appearance of his career, while Higgins earned his first NCAA bid. Last season, Flynn finished 23rd overall in the event with a ten-school-record time of 3:46.98 along with a 25th-place finish in the 1,650 freestyle and a top-40 finish in the 500 free.

Flynn qualified in the 400 individual medley and is seeded 28th overall with a time of 3:44.99. His time, set at the SEC Championships last month, marks the fastest time in program history.

Higgins will race in the 200 butterfly, where he is seeded 25th with a 1:43.36. Higgins earned his qualifying time at the SEC Championships, with the second-fastest time in UK history.

The NCAA field features a total of 235 swimmers, announced today, and 35 divers, who are qualifying this week. The NCAA Women’s Championships field, announced last week, includes five UK swimmers and two relay teams, along with this weekend’s divers that qualify.
