March 11, 2015
LEXINGTON, Ky. — Six University of Kentucky divers will compete at the NCAA Zone Diving Championships, March 12-14 at Ohio State’s McCorkle Aquatics Pavilion to qualify for the NCAA Championships.
Seniors Christa Cabot and Lindsay Keahey, junior Noah Richter, sophomore Rebecca Hamperian and freshmen Stephen Jou and Levi Lindsey will represent UK as they look to qualify for the upcoming NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships. Cabot, a two-time All-American, will be going for a return visit to the Championships, while Hamperian, Jou, Keahey, Lindsey and Richter will look to qualify for their first national championships.
The three-day competition begins Thursday at 1 p.m. ET with the women’s 3-meter and men’s 1-meter event. The meet continues Friday with the men’s 3-meter and women’s 1-meter prelims and finals, followed by the men’s and women’s platform event on Saturday.
Competing in Zone C, one of five zones across the country, divers will have several opportunities to advance to the NCAA Championships. For the women in Zone C, the top nine finishers on 3-meter and the top eight divers on 1-meter and platform earn an NCAA bid, while the top eight on 3-meter, the top six on platform and the top five divers on 1-meter from the men qualify for the NCAA Championships.
If a diver earns a bid on one event and places in the top 12 on any other, they are also eligible to compete on the other events at NCAAs as well.
