OXFORD, Miss. — The fifth-ranked Kentucky rifle team picked up multiple postseason awards at Friday’s Great American Rifle Conference Banquet.
In all Kentucky picked up multiple honors, including five all-conference selections.
Defending NCAA Air Rifle Champion Connor Davis led all UK awardees with a first-team selection in smallbore and combined and a second-team honor air rifle. Davis is the conference leader in smallbore with an average of 583.71.
Cody Manning, who was recently inducted into UK’s Frank G Ham Society of Character was named a GARC Scholar-Athlete.
Manning is pre-medicine and has a 3.6 cumulative GPA as an agricultural biotech major. Manning has worked the last two summers with the Area Health Education Center’s Summer Enrichment Program as a resident assistant. He has aspirations to serve as a doctor in the United States military. He has served as a volunteer with 4-H, God’s Pantry, the Special Olympics, UK’s Fusion program and the Habitat for Humanity, also serving has a volunteer liaison for the Saint Joseph London surgical unit.
Heather Kirby and Sonya May were named to the All-GARC second team in air rifle.
Jonathan Pinkel was named honorable mention All-Conference in smallbore, air rifle and combined. Elijah Ellis was Honorable Mention All-Conference in air rifle.
Kirby and May were Honorable Mention All-Conference combined.
