Over the next two weeks, Cat Scratches will give fans an inside look at UK softball’s 2015 roster with 20 fun questions and a quick outlook heading into the team’s season opener on Feb. 4 vs. Florida A&M. Considered one of the best defensive outfielders on the team, senior Kara Howard has recovered from an injury that sidelined her last season and is expected to contribute to the team’s depth in the outfield this spring.Howard has played in 87 career games with 38 starts, recording a triple, three RBI and 11 runs scored. The native of Riverside, Calif., had her sophomore season cut short due to injury, but made an impact defensively before the injury in the outfield. Howard made several amazing catches, including a diving catch against Mississippi State, which was the No. 6 play on ESPN’s Sportscenter Top Plays. Howard is a two-year member of the Southeastern Conference Academic Honor Roll and comes from an athletic family as her older sister, Kaylan, played softball at Oregon.
