LEXINGTON, Ky. – FootballScoop.com and ProGrassTurf.com have named Kentucky football strength and conditioning coach Corey Edmond runner-up for National Strength Coach of the Year.
Edmond has over 20 years of experience in college football and has completed two years at Kentucky. Edmond, who was named a semifinalist for strength and conditioning coach of the year in 2009 by footballscoop.com, has been successful at every stop, helping Oklahoma win a national title and leading 19 players to the NFL Draft while at Arizona.
Footballscoop.com says in a release about Edmond being named a finalist, “In two seasons at Kentucky, Edmond has completely transformed the Wildcats, morphing them from a team that can’t compete physically in the SEC into a team that can. A year after only playing one SEC opponent to within one score, the Wildcats were in fourth-quarter games with then-No. 1 Mississippi State, took Florida to three overtimes and mounted a 21-point fourth quarter rally to beat South Carolina.”
Blue to Play in NFLPA Collegiate Bowl: Senior wide receiver Javess Blue will play in the 2014 NFL Players Association Collegiate Bowl on Jan. 17 in Carson, Calif., along with fellow UK star Demarco Robinson. The native of Babson Park, Fla., caught 29 passes on the year for 525 yards and six touchdowns ending his career with 1,111 career receiving yards.
