LEXINGTON, Ky. – Only once this season did the University of Kentucky football team show off their all-black uniforms with chrome helmets, but once was enough as Big Game Football Factory and uniformcritics.com (@Uniformswag) named the combination its 2014 Uniform of the Year.
The Wildcats showed off the uniforms in their impressive come-from-behind victory over South Carolina. Kentucky scored 21 unanswered points to end the game, including an interception returned for a touchdown by senior defensive end/linebacker Bud Dupree with just over two minutes to go in the game. The 14-point deficit was the largest UK had overcome in the fourth quarter in program history.
Kentucky has a number of different uniform combinations with blue, white, black and gray jerseys, blue, white, black and gray pants, and blue, white and chrome helmets. The Wildcats also showed off a blue helmet last season with a chrome UK logo and gray faceguard, which is an alternate helmet choice.
