Video: Kierns, Higgins and Hamperian Preview the Weekend

LEXINGTON, Ky. – The Kentucky swimming and diving team begins the new year with a split-meet weekend at Vanderbilt and at Virginia Tech.

The UK women face Vandy Friday at 2 p.m. ET, while the men travel to Virginia Tech for an 11 a.m. meeting with the Hokies. The divers, who opened 2015 at the Tennessee Diving Invitational last weekend, will also travel to Blacksburg, Va.

“It’s nice to be able to get back to competing after a long break,” UK head coach Lars Jorgensen said. “On the women’s side, to compete against another really good SEC team is great, and I know the team looks forward to that. The biggest thing is we are continuing to prepare for the end of the season. We want to see how we did in training over the break. For the men, we are swimming against a really good Virginia Tech team, the defending ACC champions. We’re going to have our hands full, but it will be nice to get on the road and travel before the start of the spring semester. It will be a great opportunity to get better.”

Live results from Nashville, Tenn., can be found on VUcommodores.com, while Swimmeet.christiansburg.org will have live results from Blacksburg. HokieSports.com will also have live video of Saturday’s meet. Additional updates and behind-the-scenes news and notes can be found on Twitter at @UKSwimDive.
