LEXINGTON, Ky. – Continuing an outstanding run in the classroom under head coach Golda Johansson Borst, the Kentucky women’s golf team posted better than a 3.0 grade-point average for the ninth straight semester.

The Wildcats, who made an appearance in the NCAA East Regional last spring, notched a cumulative GPA of 3.51 during the fall 2014 semester, one of the highest marks among UK’s 22 varsity sports. The 3.51 GPA includes grades from all competing scholarship and non-scholarship players.

The UK women’s golf team has tallied a plus-3.0 GPA in every semester under Borst’s watch.

“I’m so proud that our team continues to meet and exceed the standard we set for them in the classroom,” Borst said. “Our academic staff does a tremendous job of working with our girls and making sure they get the support they need, but our team works really hard both on and off the course to be successful. We expect nothing less of them.”

Liz Breed, a senior on the 2013-14 team, was one of 31 student-athletes to graduate two weeks ago.

In May, UK posted a four-year composite score of 993 in the NCAA’s annual Academic Progress Rate report, well above the 930 four-year average needed to compete in the 2014-15 championships. The NCAA’s APR measures academic eligibility and retention of student-athletes. The four-year composite score covers the 2009-10, 2010-11, 2011-12 and 2012-13 academic years.

The Wildcats begin their spring season on Feb. 8 at the UCF Challenge at the Eagle Creek Golf Club in Orlando, Fla.
