LEXINGTON, Ky. – University of Kentucky men’s golf coach Brian Craig announced the signing of two golfers to National Letters of Intent for the 2015 signing class on Friday, as Lukas Euler (Dieburg, Germany) and Jalen Ledger (Beach Gardens, Fla.) became the newest members of the Wildcat family.
Euler comes to the Wildcats from Dieburg, Germany. He is a prominent player in his native country which includes carding a course record, 9-under par (62) at the Zimmerner Golf Club. Euler’s top performance came in the form of a second-place finish at the 2014 German Men’s National Championship, falling in a playoff. In addition to his runner-up finish at the men’s National Championship, he placed fourth overall in the Boys Championship that same year. Furthermore, Euler represented Germany in the 2014 European Team Championships.
“Lukas is everything we look for in a young player,” Craig said. “His record is very good, his fundamentals are superb, he is an excellent student and he is a very determined young man with a strong desire to get better. Lukas has already proven that he can compete with amateur players as evidenced by his advancing to a playoff in this year’s German Men’s Amateur. I love his swing as it is very simple and on plane. The future is extremely bright for Lukas and I look forward to coaching him during his time as a member of our Wildcat Golf Family.”
Ledger hails from Beach Gardens, Fla., and is a six-year letterwinner at the Benjamin School. He has served as the team’s captain in each of his last two seasons. Throughout his career, Ledger has earned All-County honors in four-consecutive seasons. Twice he has finished in the top five in the Florida Boys Junior State Championship. He has carded five top-10 finishes on the American Junior Golf Association circuit. Furthermore, he has finished in the top three 10 times in Florida Junior tour events.
“Jalen is an enormously talented young man who can flat drive the golf ball,” Craig said. “His junior record is very solid, but I firmly believe that his best golf is in front of him. His overall skill set has no weaknesses and he is very comfortable posting low scores. With his ability to drive the golf ball the way he does, I believe his game will adjust very quickly to the demanding courses that we play on the college circuit. Jalen is also a terrific young man with the type of character and attitude that will make him a wonderful teammate and asset for our team. I can’t wait to get Jalen on campus next fall and help him reach his immense potential as a Kentucky Wildcat.”
