Nov. 7, 2014
LEXINGTON, Ky. – Kentucky volleyball sophomore Kelsey Wolf has been named to the Capital One Academic All-District First Team by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). Recognizing the nation’s top student-athletes for their combined performances athletically and in the classroom, Wolf is named to the team for the first time in her career.
Wolf owns a 3.93 grade-point-average and is pursuing a degree in Marketing and Management. The Cincinnati, Ohio, native was named to the SEC All-Academic Team as a redshirt freshman last season.
A defensive specialist, Wolf has played in all but one match for the Wildcats in 2014. She has recorded 141 digs, fifth-best on the team, along with 11 assists and one service ace. Wolf logged a season-best 11 digs on Sept. 12 at North Carolina and matched that total a week later in a 3-1 win over Xavier. In Kentucky’s season-opener, Wolf recorded a career-high-tying three assists in a 3-0 win over Wichita State.
Wolf is the 13th Wildcat to earn CoSIDA Academic All-District honors in head coach Craig Skinner’s 10-year tenure. With First Team honors, Wolf is eligible for CoSIDA Academic All-America voting later this month.
Wolf joins six other student-athletes on the Division I District 2 First Team. One of eight districts, District 2 includes schools from Delaware, Kentucky, Maryland, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, West Virginia and Washington D.C.
