DanceBlue Pledge Form | UK vs. Tennessee Preview
LEXINGTON, Ky. — Details for the Kentucky volleyball team’s annual DanceBlue Match, set for Wednesday at 8 p.m. ET vs. Tennessee, have been announced. In support of the on-campus organization DanceBlue, the team will raise awareness and money to benefit children with cancer who are treated at UK’s Pediatric Oncology Hematology Clinic.
To support DanceBlue, fans can pledge money for each of UK’s kills, digs or assists. More information about pledging, including where to send money is on the pledge form. Fans can pledge money both in attendance at Wednesday’s match or while watching the contest live on ESPNU.
The team will also wear blue warm-up tops with gold lettering and head coach Craig Skinner will wear a gold tie, which will be auctioned off on UKathletics.com following the match. A special gold ball will be auctioned off as well.
Flowers and ribbons will be sold at the Marketing Gazebo to support DanceBlue. A special post-match ceremony will take place, which fans are encouraged to participate in.
DanceBlue is a fundraising organization at UK dedicated to fighting pediatric cancer by raising money to support the DanceBlue Kentucky Children’s Hospital Pediatric Oncology/Hematology Clinic and the Markey Cancer Center. The year-long fundraising effort culminates with a 24-hour dance marathon each February.
DanceBlue’s 24-hour dance marathon 10 Year Anniversary will begin on February 14 at 2 p.m. ET at Memorial Coliseum. Over the past nine years, DanceBlue has raised more than 6.5 million dollars after a record-breaking $1,436,606.24 total last year.
The clinic is called the DanceBlue Clinic after DanceBlue made a four-year, million-dollar pledge for a new remodeled clinic space. The new clinic, anticipated to open next year, will have more than double the space of the original clinic.
The DanceBlue clinic serves 63 counties in Kentucky and the surrounding states. Last year, 40 volunteers clocked over 900 hours volunteering in the clinic. Additionally, 27 families are a part of the DanceBlue, Adopt-A-Family program that allows student organizations to be a support system for the families in the Clinic.
The volleyball team is one of several UK teams to partner with DanceBlue, along with gymnastics, swimming and diving and softball.
