LEXINGTON, Ky. – The Kentucky men’s golf team will conclude its fall slate of competition with a two-day, three-round tournament at the Quail Valley Collegiate Invitational in Vero Beach, Fla., Oct. 27-28.
“This is our last competition of the fall and it is after a nice stay at home where we have had solid practices,” UK coach Brian Craig said. “We have also had the privilege of playing Valhalla in preparation for this trip. The guys are rested and ready to go. We need a great effort this upcoming week at Quail Valley to finish the fall on a positive note.”
Kentucky’s lineup features junior David Snyder, freshmen Tyler ‘Chip’ McDaniel and Cooper Musselman, junior Harrison Greenberry and sophomore Stephen Stallings. Snyder owns UK’s best finish of the 2014-15 season thus far with a fourth place showing at the Wolf Run Intercollegiate in the team’s second event of the season. McDaniel leads the team with two top-20 finishes, while Musselman holds the honor of the lowest individual round of the fall campaign with a 67 at The Invitational at the Ocean Course.
Quail Valley Golf Club is hosting its second collegiate golf event in the course’s history. The course was designed by Tom Fazio and Nick Price, and has played host to numerous USGA and PGA events including US Open Qualifying and State Amateurs.
In addition to Kentucky, the two-day tournament field is comprised of Arizona, Bowling Green, Connecticut, Houston Baptist, Jacksonville, Louisiana-Monroe, McNeese State, Michigan State, North Dakota State, North Florida, Rice, Stephen F. Austin, TCU and Tennessee.
Kentucky began the season with a top-five finish at The Invitational at the Ocean Course to begin its 2014-15 campaign. UK then was led by Snyder’s fourth place finish at the Wolf Run Intercollegiate in the second tournament of the year. Kentucky earned its season-low team score of 289 in the final round of the Erin Hills Intercollegiate.
