EVANSVILLE, Ind. – The Kentucky men’s soccer team, winner of two-straight and unbeaten in its last four, will face the University of Evansville on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. ET at Arad McCutchan Stadium.
Live video of the match will be live streamed on gopurpleaces.com. A live radio broadcast will also be available.
The Wildcats are coming off two-straight wins, including a 1-0 victory at No. 21 UAB and a 2-0 result over Marshall at home on Sunday. The win over UAB was UK’s second road win over a ranked opponent this year as the Wildcats also defeated then-top-ranked Notre Dame in South Bend last month. Evansville (4-6-1) is coming two straight wins, including a 2-1 win over Bradley last Saturday.
The UK defense kept two more clean sheets last week to give them eight this year, which ranks second nationally. UK also ranks third nationally in goals-against-average as the Wildcats are letting in less than a half a goal per game (0.40).
At the heart of UK’s elite defense has been sophomore Jordan Wilson, who was named Conference USA Co-Defender of the Week on Monday after he was a central figure in UK’s two shutout victories last week.
Wilson has started every game this year for the Wildcats, playing an integral role in a defensive unit that is third in the NCAA with a 0.40 goals-against average, allowing just five goals in 12 matches. UK has posted a C-USA best eight shutouts to tie for third in the NCAA.
Monday’s honor was the first C-USA Player of the Week honor of Wilson’s career.
The Wildcats offense has also begun to click during the recent run of strong form. Bryan Celis became the second Wildcat to notch multiple goals this year as he netted the winner from distance at UAB. Justin Laird leads UK with three goals this year.
Napo Matsoso is coming off a career day vs. Marshall as he scored a penalty after drawing the spot-kick and assisted the second goal.
