Erin, Wisc. – Freshman Tyler `Chip’ McDaniel and junior David Snyder carded even-par 72s, on the second day of play at the Erin Hills Intercollegiate to rise up the leaderboard to highlight competition for the Kentucky men’s golf team on Monday.

McDaniel now sits in 17th place overall following his even-par score. For the tournament, the freshman from Manchester, Ky., has fired a 5-over par, 149.

Snyder notched a 72 to improve 19 slots on the leaderboard to No. 32 overall. The Somerset, Ky., native rebounded from an opening round 81.

“Tyler McDaniel and David Snyder bounced back nicely today,” UK coach Brian Craig said. “It was a particularly good performance by Tyler after having two double bogeys to start the day. We did better today, but not what we needed after yesterday’s round. There are still 18 holes left and we need to finish strong.”

UK’s top performer on Sunday, individual Todd McDaniel, fired a 78 on day two and is tied for 32nd overall in the tournament.

The teams will conclude the tournament with 18 holes on Tuesday with tee times beginning from 8:30-10:10 a.m. CT off the first and 10th tees on the par-72 course.

UK finished in ninth place overall following the second round of action. UK as a team carded a 298 – 18 shots better than Sunday’s round. UCLA hung on to the top spot on the leaderboard, followed by SMU, Marquette, Northwestern and South Florida to round out the top five.

Junior Harrison Greenberry fired a 77 on day two to move into a tie for 47th. Senior Will Bishop carded a 79 and is also tied for 47th. Freshman Cooper Musselman added a 77 and remains in 51st.

Erin Hills, which opened in 2006, was the site of the 111th U.S. Amateur Championship in 2011, and is set to host the 2017 U.S. Open. The golf course was ranked No. 10 in Golf Digest’s latest list of America’s 100 Greatest Public Golf Courses. Marquette University, also serving as tournament host in 2014, hosted the first-ever collegiate event at Erin Hills in October 2013.
