ZIONSVILLE, Ind. – Junior David Snyder finished in a tie for fourth overall to wrap up action at the Wolf Run Intercollegiate on Sunday. It marks the first top-five finish of the season for the Somerset, Ky., native and the ninth top-10 finish of his career.
Kentucky concluded the tournament in ninth place with a 911 overall score in the three-round tournament. Illinois won the tournament by 30 strokes over the second-place finisher, Florida.
“That was a tough performance to take,” UK coach Brian Craig said. “Other than David Snyder, who played very well, we did not have anything. We need to get back to the basics with this team. We are young, but that is no excuse. We are absolutely better than this and we will bounce back.”
Kentucky returns to action Oct. 5-7 for the Erin Hills Intercollegiate at the Erin Hills course in Erin, Wisc.
Snyder fired rounds of 71-74-73 over the two-day 54-hole event to finish at five-over par, 218. His weekend included one eagle and nine birdies overall to lead the Wildcats.
Freshman Tyler `Chip’ McDaniel continued his strong start to his career with his second-consecutive top-20 finish. McDaniel carded scores of 75-77-75 to finish at 14-over par for the tournament. He led the Wildcats in scoring in his opening weekend of competition a week ago.
Junior Harrison Greenberry, in his first competition of the season, carded a 288 with scores of 75-75-78 for the weekend for a tie for 24th.
Freshman Cooper Musselman finished in a tie for 64th and sophomore Stephen Stallings in a tie for 77th.
Playing as individuals, senior Will Bishop turned in a 232 for a tie for 32nd, while junior Todd McDaniel rebounded to finish in 82nd overall.
