LEXINGTON, Ky. – The Kentucky Men’s Soccer team will look to stay hot against a formidable opponent when it puts its three-game win streak on the line against No. 19 Furman on Friday at Wendell & Vickie Bell Soccer Complex.

The match is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. ET. The game will be broadcast on SEC Network+ just like all of UK’s 2014 home games. Neil Price will have the call.

UK is perfect at home this season with a 3-0 record. After the 1-0 victory over Xavier on Tuesday, the Wildcats improved to 4-2 for the 2014 season.

Friday’s match against Furman will pit two hot teams against one-another. Furman is 4-1, having won four-straight.

The Paladins have defeated a pair of ranked-opponents this year with a 3-0 drubbing of over then-No. 18 UC-Santa Barbara to go along with a 1-0 upset of then-No. 8 Coastal Carolina in their last game.

The Wildcats defense has remained strong and produced three consecutive shutout games, and four in the last five outings.

Callum Irving, the reigning Conference USA Defensive Player of the Week, continued his great performance with another clean sheet in goal against Xavier, which gave him five shutouts on the year. Irving also had three saves in the game.

The UK offense has come to life during the current streak with senior forward Justin Laird at the forefront. Laird scored the golden goal in overtime against Xavier, and the score was the second in as many games for him.

Friday’s meeting will be the second all-time between UK and Furman, with the Wildcats having won 1-0 in 2001 at a neutral site.

The Wildcats have scored a total of six goals in 2014 with Laird as the team’s leading scorer with two. Perhaps more importantly the UK defense has allowed just two goals all year, for an impressive 0.34 goals-against average clip.

Irving has saved 90 percent of the shots he’s faced this year, good for 16th best in the country, while his GAA ranks 14th nationally.

Friday’s match is the third leg of a four-game home-stand for the Wildcats. UK will host No. 9 Louisville on Tuesday, Sept. 23 before beginning Conference USA play with a trip to Florida Atlantic the following weekend.

Students will received free admission to Friday’s match with a student ID, and they can also get a complimentary ride to The Bell at 6 p.m. ET with pick-up at “The 90.”
