NORMAN, Okla. – The University of Kentucky men’s golf team was tabbed an All-Academic team by the GCAA, presented by Farmers Insurance, for a 3.2 team grade-point average for the 2013-14 academic year it was announced by the organization.

To earn recognition a team must submit GPAs for each player on its official squad list for the academic year and have a comprised result of 3.0 or better.

Nine players on Brian Craig’s squad claimed All-Southeastern Conference academic honors this year. A player must possess a 3.0 grade-point average for the preceding academic year or his entire collegiate career, be at least a sophomore in academic standing, and meet additional qualifications to earn recognition by the league office.

On the links, Kentucky placed 18th overall at the NCAA Championships in May. It was the eighth appearance in program history and fifth under Craig during the NCAA’s final weekend of play. UK was paced by seniors Ben Stow and Stephen Powers who both capped the tournament finishing in 29th place with an even score. The duo also paved the way for the postseason academic accolades as both earned All-SEC Academic team honors, and Stow was a scholar All-American.

The Wildcats were among seven SEC schools to capture All-Academic team accolades from the GCAA joining Auburn, Mississippi, Missouri, South Carolina, Tennessee and Vanderbilt.
