LEXINGTON, Ky. – University of Kentucky women’s tennis sophomore Nadia Ravita and freshman Aldila Sutjiadi won the doubles title at the 2014 So Good Walikota Surakarta Cup in Solo, Indonesia, Saturday.
Ravita and Sutjiadi, both from Jakarta, Indonesia, claimed the title with a 6-2, 7-6 (3) win over Clemson’s doubles pair of Beatrice Gumulya and Jessy Rompies.
“It’s a great recognition for the work that both Nadia and Aldila have put in,” UK head coach Carlos Drada said. “It’s a great sign of things to come, they are both young and have a bright future. They do a great job of working hard, and will be able to keep progressing in the fall and will see good results in the upcoming NCAA season.”
The two Wildcats claimed a 6-2, 6-4 win in the first round before a 7-5, 6-1 win in the quarterfinals. A 6-4, 7-5 win in the semifinals set up the matchup between the freshman and sophomore from UK and Clemson’s junior and sophomore.
The seven day tournament began on June 8 with singles competition, while Ravita and Sutjiadi began their run to the doubles title on June 11 at the Manahan Tennis Centre.
