Meet Info: Billy Hayes Invite | Longhorn Invite | Tennessee Challenge

LEXINGTON, Ky. – The Kentucky track and field teams will attempt to tighten any competitive loose ends with an eye toward preparing for the Southeastern Conference Championships – which will be held at the UK Outdoor Complex later this month – at three meets this weekend.

The majority of the Wildcats will compete at the Billy Hayes Invitational in Bloomington, Indiana, while a select group of sprinters will travel to the Longhorn Invitational in Austin, Texas and UK’s throwers will compete at the Tennessee Challenge in Knoxville.

The weekend’s competition will serve as the final regular season meet for almost all of the Wildcats.

Matt Hillenbrand will begin the weekend for UK in the American Track League 1,500 meters, which will be held at IU on Friday evening, the day before the Billy Hayes Invitational begins.

The meets at IU, Texas and Austin will all take place on Saturday.

With UK’s top women’s sprinters heading to Texas’ Mike A. Myers Stadium, the Longhorn Invitational 4x100m relay could feature a showdown between the nation’s sixth-fastest Longhorns and eighth-fastest Wildcats (4×100 rankings).

UK’s top throwers will make the trip to Tennessee, looking to sharpen details here and there.

Multiple Wildcat throwers currently rank inside the national top-10, led by Raymond Dykstra who ranks second nationally in the javelin (76.25m/250-2). Dykstra is not expected to throw the javelin, but will see action in the discus.

Andrew Evans, the returning NCAA Bronze Medalist, currently ranks ninth nationally in the discus (60.15m/198-2).

Bradley Szypka and Rebecca Famurewa, who both rank in the national top-10 in the shot put and discus respectively, will also compete at Tennessee.

Kentucky will host the SEC Championships from May 15-18.
