LEXINGTON, Ky. – Fresh off a win in the Bluegrass Invitational, the University of Kentucky men’s golf team returns to the course in the SEC Championship this weekend in St. Simons Island, Ga, at the highly regarded Sea Island Golf Club. The three-day, 54-hole tournament will begin Friday, April 25 and wrap up Sunday, April 27. 

Last Time Out:
Four Wildcats finished in the top 10 to help Kentucky record its first team title since 2011 when UK won the Bluegrass Invitational. It marked the sixth time UK has hosted the Bluegrass Invitational and the Wildcats have won three of them. Kentucky recorded a team score of 12-under par, 852, which was four strokes better than the second place team, Auburn. Senior Ben Stow recorded his team-leading fourth top-five finish of the season by tying for second at 5-under par, 211. In his last two events, Stow has placed first and tied for second. Finishing just a stroke back of Stow was junior David Snyder at 4-under par, 212, to place him in a tie for fourth. Seniors Cody Martin and Stephen Powers finished sixth and tied for seventh, respectively. Martin had a three-day score of 2-under par, 214, while Powers carded a 1-under par, 215.

Powers leads the team with a season scoring average of 72.33. Stow ranks second on the team with a 72.41 scoring average and junior David Snyder following close behind at 73.22. Powers and Stow each have five top-10 finishes this season to lead the team. 

About the SEC Championship:
This marks the 14th year for the SEC men’s golf Championship to be contested on the Sea Island Golf Club’s Seaside Course. The SEC has conducted its annual championship on St. Simons Island since 2001. Alabama returns to Seaside as the two-time defending SEC Champions after winning the 2013 event by two strokes. UK finishes seventh as a team with a total score of 26-over par, 866. Stow tied for 12th last year at 5-over par, 215. The Wildcats won the SEC Championship in 2005.

Eighteen holes will be played Friday, Saturday and Sunday with fixed tee times on holes No. 1 and No. 10 at 7:30 a.m. ET. The course will feature a par-70, 6,898-yard setup. 

The Field:
All 14 SEC teams will be in action over the weekend with seven of the teams ranked in the top 25, including No. 1 Alabama, No. 6 Georgia, No. 15 Vanderbilt, No. 16 Texas A&M, No. 21 Arkansas, No. 22 LSU and No. 24 South Carolina.
