Harrison's World-Leader, Parker's PRs Highlight Florida Relays Friday

GAINESVILLE, Fla., and STANFORD, Calif., and LOUISVILLE, Ky.  – Kendra Harrison posted the world leading 400-meter hurdles time, 56.60 seconds, one week after running the American leading 100m hurdles time on Friday at the Florida Relays.

Harrison won in a school-record time by more than a second, besting Michelle Williams’ mark, which had stood for 19 years.

With the performance Harrison now leads the nation in both the 400m hurdles and 100m hurdles (12.64w/12.94).

Kayla Parker had a similarly impressive day as she recorded a personal best in two events, including a win in the long jump university division.

Parker jumped 6.11m/20-0.5 (+2.9) and ran 13.14 (+1.9) in the 100m hurdles. The hurdles time ranks No. 2 all-time amongst Wildcats and the long jump mark ranks sixth on the UK all-time performers list.

Allison Peare posted the nation-leading and personal-best 800m time, 2:04.57 to finish as the top collegian and second overall at Florida Relays.

Dezerea Bryant broke the Kentucky 200m record as she placed third overall, second among collegians this season, with a time of 22.88 into a -1.6 wind in her outdoor debut at the distance.

Keffri Neal followed up Peare’s strong performance with a PR of his own, a time of 1:47.57 from a slow heat meaning he had to make the pace for nearly the entire 800 meters.

Amy Hansen broke the UK 3k steeplechase freshman record by nearly a minute, with a time of 10:37.02 to place eighth at the Florida Relays.

Nick Anderson was the No. 3 collegiate finisher (11th overall) with a personal best time 13.91 (+1.10), which broke Brendan Ames’ UK freshman record.

Andrew Evans threw more than a three meter personal best hammer throw mark of 60.72m/199-2 to place third in the university division at Florida Relays.

At the Stanford Invitational Matt Hillenbrand ran the third fastest time in school history, 13:49.24 for 11th in section one. Adam Kahleifeh ran 14:23.10 for 17th in section two.

Spencer Hrycay ran 9:12.68 for fourth in his first Florida Relays collegiate 3,000m steeplechase.

Cassidy Hale ran more than a five second PR, 1:47.57 for 24th in the Florida Relays 1,500m.

Rebecca Famurewa placed fourth in the Florida Relays discus with a top throw that traveled 51.19m/167-11.

Angelica Whaley finished 16th in the Florida Relays women’s 400m with a PR time of 54.14.
Record.

Mackay Wilson ran 8:59.23 for ninth in heat 2 of the 3k steeplechase at the Stanford Invitational.

Leah Nugent ran a significant personal best in the 100m hurdles, 13.27 and came back to take second in her 400m hurdles heat behind Harrison with a time of 58.21.

UK alumnus Keith Hayes began his outdoor season with a time .02 off his PR, 13.67 into a -1.0 wind.

UK alums in fact finished second and sixth respectively in the Florida Relays 110m hurdles. Mikel Thomas was the runner up as he ran 13.51 (+2.8) while Hayes placed sixth.

UK also had competitors at the Bellarmine Invitational in Louisville.  Tim Layten ran 1:57.92 in the 800m for seventh and Lou Styles ran 4:05.46 for 13th in the 1,500m.
