Lexington, KY. – The No. 22 University of Kentucky women’s tennis team will travel to College Station, Texas and Columbia, Mo. to take on No. 10 Texas A&M and the University of Missouri. The Wildcats match up with the Aggies, Friday, March 7 at 5 p.m. ET at the Mitchell Tennis Center and the Tigers, Sunday, March 9 at 11 a.m. ET at the Mizzou Tennis Complex.
Kentucky began conference play with two home wins against then No. 41 LSU and No. 33 Arkansas. In their first road match, the Wildcats will face a talented Texas A&M team. The Aggies are 7-3 (1-1 SEC), but are unbeaten at home. Cristina Stancu, who’s ranked 15th nationally, is 5-3 at the No. 1 singles position with three of her wins coming over ranked opponents.
When Kentucky and Texas A&M met last season, the Aggies took the match 5-2 with No. 51 Nadia Ravita and junior Stephanie Fox notching wins. Before the win last season, Kentucky had four consecutive wins against the maroon and white. The Wildcats lead the series, 10-2.
Missouri enters the matchup with Kentucky, 4-8 (0-2 SEC). In their last time out, the Tigers fell to No. 5 Florida, 7-0. Kentucky will be Mizzou’s second match at home in two months. Missouri is led by senior, Cierra Gaytan-Leach, who provided the Tigers with 19 wins in the No. 1 singles position last season. Live stats for the match can be found at www.MUTigers.com.
