LEXINGTON, Ky. – The top-ranked University of Kentucky rifle team will travel to West Point, N.Y., this weekend for two matches, squaring off with No. 11 Murray State on Saturday and then facing No. 7 Army Sunday.

“We’re obviously excited to head up to Army for the two matches this weekend,” UK head coach Harry Mullins said. “Army and Murray State are both solid teams and I expect nothing short of their best efforts this weekend but that being said I am pleased with how our team has trained this week and I look forward to seeing their hard work pay off for them.”

Traveling with Kentucky will include seniors Aaron and Emily Holsopple, juniors Elijah Ellis, Cody Manning and Jonathan Pinkel, sophomore Connor Davis and freshmen Heather Kirby and Sonya May.

The Wildcats are coming off a 4688-4623 win over Ohio State this past weekend, with Emily Holsopple leading the Wildcats with an aggregate of 1179, including a team-best 587 in smallbore. Davis led UK in air rifle against the Buckeyes, shooting a 593.

Murray State is 6-1 on the year, with the only loss coming back in October, a 4565-4550 loss to UT Martin. The Racers took down Columbus State and North Carolina State this past weekend, shooting a 4632 at home. Katarina Bisercic led the Racers with a 593 in air rifle.

Army has taken two head-to-head matches to go along with a first-place finish at the President’s Trophy Match. The Black Knights’ highest score to this point has been a 4669, coming at West Virginia in October.

Army and Murray State will face off Friday at 3 p.m. ET.
