UK Projected Lineup Pregame Sheet
LEXINGTON, Ky. — Fresh off a thrilling 2-1 overtime win in its league road opener on Friday night at Old Dominion, Kentucky men’s soccer will open a season-long, three-game homestand on Tuesday with a 7 p.m. ET matchup with Evansville at the UK Soccer Complex.
Kentucky (3-5) is coming off a golden goal victory over ODU on Friday night, using the first two-goal night of senior Brad Doliner’s career. The native of Cape Elizabeth, Maine, gave the Wildcats a lead in the 52nd minute and won it with the golden tally in the 98th frame.
Overall, UK has netted 10 goals and allowed 11 in eight games to open 2013, owning a 122-66 advantage in shots and a 57-27 lead in corner kicks. UK has a 1.36 goals-against average, allowing just 26 shots on goal.
Individually, UK has been led by Doliner – the Conference USA Offensive Player of the Week – who has four goals and one assist, firing 19 shots with 10 on target. Sophomore midfielder Isak Krogstad has three goals and two assists, with freshmen Napo Matsoso, Kaelon Fox and Charlie Reymann each charting a goal and an assist. Freshman Sam Miller has two assists, with sophomore Jacob Scearce, junior Justin Laird and sophomore Bryan Celis each contributing an assist. In goal, Irving has started five games with a 1.18 goals-against average, saving 10 and owning two clean sheets. Senior Jack Van Arsdale has started three games, with a 1.67 goals-against average and four saves.
UK has been led in minutes played by senior center back Steven Perinovic, a preseason All-Conference USA honoree by the league coaches. Freshman defender/midfielder Alex Bumpus ranked second with 700 minutes played, with Matsoso checking in third on the club with 697 minutes. Overall, UK has seen 68-percent of its minutes played come from underclassmen, including 47-percent from freshmen and 51-percent from newcomers.
UK and Evansville last met in 2012 in Evansville, Ind., with the Wildcats posting a 2-0 result at McCutchan Stadium. UK improved to 4-4 with the win, while the Aces dropped to 4-3, in front of a lively 1,284 fans. UK got a goal from Tyler Riggs in the 38th minute, on an assist from Jacob Kemper for the game-winning tally. In the 78th minute, Matt Lodge netted his fourth of the year on an assist from Riggs. Van Arsdale worked a clean sheet, as UK owned an 18-6 advantage in shots and a 6-4 mark in corner kicks.
Evansville (6-3-1) had its five-game winning streak snapped on Saturday in a 4-1 loss to Drake. The Purple Aces has wins over NIU, No. 6 St. Louis, Georgia State, NJIT, Eastern Illinois and No. 16 Butler, with losses to New Hampshire and Drake, drawing UMASS in their season opener. Overall, Evansville has 20 goals in its first 10 games, owning a 195-150 advantage in shots, equaling its opponent in corners (47-47), conceding 18 goals.
Individually, UE has been led in scoring by Faik Hajderovic, who has two goals and 11 assists, with Mark Gonzalez owning six goals. Dylan Terry has three goals and three assists, with Jared Robinson owning two goals and three assists and Patrick Hodges netting two goals. In goal, Eric Teppen has a 1.54 goals-against average with 51 saves.
UK has met Evansville six times in program history, with the series tied 3-3, including UK owning a 1-1 mark in games played in Lexington. UK has won three consecutive meetings, as UK has met the Purple Aces each season since 2010.
