LEXINGTON, Ky. – University of Kentucky football junior wide receiver Javess Blue and senior linebacker Avery Williamson have been honored for their strong play in UK’s game with top-10 ranked Louisville last weekend. Blue was named Honorable Mention All-Purpose Performer of the Week by the College Football Performance Awards, while Williamson was named one of two Defensive Players of the Week by the Beyond Sports Network.  

Blue paced Kentucky with six receptions for 58 yards against the Cardinals, including a 25-yard reception. The Babson, Fla., native also gave UK a spark on special teams, returning punts and kickoffs. Blue had five kickoff returns in the game for 134 yards, including an impressive 43-yard return. Blue averaged 26.8 yards per kickoff return against Louisville and currently ranks fifth in the Southeastern Conference and 30th nationally with 25.2 yards per kickoff return average.

For the season, Blue is UK’s leading receiver with 15 catches for 197 yards and a touchdown. The junior is averaging 13.1 yards per catch, while his 88-yard touchdown reception against Miami (Ohio) two weeks ago was the fourth-longest pass play in school history.

Williamson led all players on Saturday against Louisville with 15 tackles, adding a tackle for loss. The native of Milan, Tenn., has had three or more tackles in 22 consecutive games for Kentucky. Williamson has 35 tackles this season, including a tackle for loss, quarterback hurry and fumble recovery. The linebacker leads the SEC 35 total tackles, while sitting sixth nationally with 11.7 tackles per game.  

Game Time for UK-Florida on Sept. 28 Set: The University of Kentucky football game with No. 18/19 Florida has been set for a 7 p.m. ET kickoff on either ESPN2 or ESPNU. The network selection will not be known until the completion of games on Sept. 21. Kentucky is currently in its bye week and will resume practice Tuesday.
