  • With the win, Kentucky improves to 1-1. Miami (Ohio) falls to 0-2.
  • Kentucky leads the all-time series vs. Miami (Ohio), 8-4-1, including a 6-3-1 mark in Lexington. UK has won three consecutive meetings in the series.
  • UK is 28-7-1 all-time against teams that make up the current alignment of the Mid-American Conference.
  • UK is 94-26-6 all-time in home openers and has won eight consecutive dating back to 2006.

  • Kentucky’s offense amassed 675 yards, the third-most total offense in program history and the most since 1998.
  • Kentucky threw for 413 total yards, its first 400-yard passing performance since throwing for 430 yards vs. Tennessee in 2007.
  • UK finished with 262 yards rushing, its highest rushing output since running for 342 yards vs. Samford in 2012.
  • UK’s back-to-back games of 200 yards rushing and passing marked the first time since 2010.
  • UK collected 27 total first downs, the most since getting 28 vs. Western Kentucky in 2012.
  • UK’s defense had five sacks for the first time since getting five in 2012 vs. Samford.
  • With two players passing for at least 100 yards, it marked the first time for UK since Jared Lorenzen (146) and Shane Boyd (140) vs. LSU on Oct. 13, 2001.
  • UK drove for a game-opening TD, its first game-opening scoring drive of the year, a seven-play, 61-yard scoring drive.

  • UK completed an 88-yard touchdown strike in the first quarter from Maxwell Smith to Javess Blue, marking UK’s longest completion since 2000 vs. Georgia, an 89-yard completion from Jared Lorenzen to Derek Smith.
    • It marked the fourth longest pass play in UK history.
  • UK’s offense scored the first five times it had possession to open the game, not including the fumbled punt.
  • UK converted 4-of-5 redzone trips in the game and have now converted on 9-of-10 trips in 2013. The only non-conversion today was when UK allowed the game clock to expire and end the game with the ball on the five-yard line.
  • With three plays of 40 or more yards in the game, UK has already had five plays of 40 yards or more in 2013, after just four in 2012.
  • Of UK’s 413 yards passing, 298 yards were hauled in by five of UK’s newcomer receivers, amounting to 72 percent of its receiving production.
  • UK held Miami to 1-of-16 on its third down chances, the best defensive performance for Kentucky on third down since holding Georgia to 0-for-10 on third down in 2005.

Individual Notes

  • Mark Stoops got his first win as a head coach.
  • Sophomore QB Maxwell Smith made his first start of the 2013 season.
    • Smith finished with 310 yards on 15-of-23 passing, with three TDs.
      • Smith is the first Wildcat to throw for 300 yards since he did so with 332 yards vs. Western Kentucky in 2012.
    • Smith connected on an 88-yard touchdown in the first quarter, the longest pass of his career.
    • Smith finished with 170 yards passing in the first quarter.
  • Sophomore QB Jalen Whitlow rushed for a nine-yard TD on UK’s first possession.
    • It was his second rushing TD of the year and the fifth of his career.
    • Whitlow was 10-for-12 for 103 yards in the air and rushed seven times for 48 yards and one touchdown.
  • Junior WR Javess Blue caught six passes for 114 yards and a TD to become UK’s first 100-yard receiver since Aaron Boyd vs. Kent State on Sept. 8, 2012.  
    • Blue connected on an 88-yard touchdown grab in the first quarter, a new career long and the fourth-longest pass play in UK history.
    • Blue returned one kickoff for 17 yards and five punts for 22 yards, his first career returns.
  • Freshman WR Ryan Timmons finished with a career-best five catches for 55 yards, including a career-long 22-yard catch.
    • Timmons also rushed four times for a career-high 37 yards, including a 21-yard run.   
  • Senior RB Raymond Sanders rushed six times for 39 yards and a TD.
    • It marked his first rushing TD of the year and the ninth of his career.
  • Senior RB Jonathan George hauled in a career-long 48-yard touchdown pass from Smith in the first quarter, his first reception of the year and his second career TD catch.
    • George finished with six rushes for 27 yards.
  • Freshman RB Jojo Kemp had a career-high and team-leading 12 rushes for 78 yards.  
  • Freshman WR Jeff Badet made his first career start.
    • Badet caught his first three career passes for 80 yards and one TD.
    • Had a 56-yard TD grab in the fourth quarter.
  • Freshman WR Alexander Montgomery caught a career-high four passes for 37 yards.
  • Junior DE Alvin Dupree had a season-best, team-high seven tackles, with two going for losses, including one sack.
    • Dupree had his fist sack of the year and the 10th of his career.
    • Dupree now has 17 tackles for loss in his career.
  • Senior TE Anthony Kendrick had a career-long 37-yard reception.
    • Kendrick caught two balls for 46 yards.
  • Junior DE Za’Darius Smith had UK’s first three-sack game since Deion Holts had three sacks vs. Indiana in 2003.
    • Smith finished with six tackles and also had a QB hurry.
  • Redshirt freshman C Jon Toth made his first career start.
  • Junior LB TraVaughn Paschal made his first career start.
    • He finished with a career-high seven tackles.
  • With UK opening its first defensive possession in the nickel defense, freshman DB Blake McClain made his first career start.
    • McClain finished with six tackles, after totaling seven tackles in his collegiate debut vs. WKU.  
  • Senior LB Avery Williamson had six tackles, including his first QB hurry of the year.
    • Williamson has now had at least three tackles in 21 consecutive games.
  • Freshman DE Jason Hatcher recorded his first career QB hurry.
  • Junior DL Mike Douglas recorded his first sack of the year and the third of his career.
  • Sophomore punter Landon Foster punted five times for 226 yards and a 45.2 yard average.
    • Foster’s 58-yard punt equaled his career long from 2012.
    • With one punt downed inside the 20, he now has 14 punts in his career downed inside the 20.
  • Senior kicker Joe Mansour made a 22-yard field goal in the first quarter, marking his third career field goal.
    • He added a 21-yard field goal in the fourth quarter and is now 4-for-4 on the year.
    • Mansour connected on 4-of-4 PAT attempts and 6-of-7 on the year.
    • Mansour kicked off eight times, with four going as touchbacks.
      • He has now 48 touchbacks in his career.
