SUGAR GROVE, Ill. – The University of Kentucky men’s golf team currently sits in fifth place after the second round of the Northern Intercollegiate, as day two proved to be a challenge for all competitors at Rich Harvest Farms.

After the first round saw three teams post under-par scores, no teams recorded below-par scores during the second round of action. The Wildcats had a rough day, recording a 15-over par round of 303. Overall, Kentucky is 13-over par 589. Houston remains in the lead at four-under 572. The teams return to the course for the final round Sunday morning at 9 a.m. ET.

“We struggled today right from the start,” said Kentucky head coach Brian Craig. “It is very disappointing, but just a small bump in the road looking at the entire season. More than anything, it looks like I need to have a serious look at how I select the travel team. We needed David Snyder in the lineup this week and I will take full responsibility for that. What a great 36 holes he has played and I could not be happier for him.”

Entering the day tied for the lead, Snyder, who is playing as an individual, played a consistent second round to remain in the hunt for a first place finish. He heads into the final round tomorrow in second place at five-under (139). The junior recorded an even-par round of 72 today.

Senior Stephen Powers is the only other Wildcat under par after two days of play. Powers is tied for seventh at one-under (143) after shooting a three-over 75 on Saturday.

Sitting in a tie for 13th is senior Ben Stow at one-over (145). Stow finished the second round with a three-over 75.

Junior Will Bishop struggled Saturday afternoon in his second round. After posting an even-par 72 on Friday, he headed to the clubhouse with an eight-over 80 today. He currently sits in a tie for 41st at eight-over (152).

Senior Cody Martin finished the day with a four-over 76. Through two days of competition, Martin is tied for 41st at eight-over (152).

Rounding out the Wildcat participants, sophomore Harrison Greenberry is tied for 45th at nine-over par (153). Greenberry wrapped up the day of play with a five-over 77.

Following the Northern Intercollegiate, UK will travel to Zionsville, Ind., for the Wolf Run Invitational held Sept. 21-22 at the Wolf Run Golf Club.
