LEXINGTON, Ky. – Forced to face the third-ranked singles player in the opening round of the 2013 NCAA Division 1 Women’s Tennis Singles Championship, freshman Nadia Ravita was eliminated by UCLA’s Robin Anderson in the round of 64 on Wednesday morning.

Ravita dropped the first set 6-3 and Anderson clinched the match with a 6-4 win in the second set.

The loss finalizes Ravita’s singles record at 20-5 and 10-3 in Southeastern Conference matches, the best singles record for a UK freshman since Sarah Woestmann posted a 20-4 record in 2007.

The Jakarta, Indonesia, native received many accolades in her first year at UK, including being named to the All-SEC Second Team and All-Freshman team, the first Kentucky player to be named All-SEC since Christine Johnson in 2010 and first Kentucky freshman since Megan Broderick in 2008.

Currently ranked 28th nationally, Ravita was ranked as high as 22nd this year, boasting the highest singles ranking for a UK player since 2006 when Kim Coventry opened the season ranked 15th. Coventry was also the last Kentucky player to receive an at-large bid to the singles NCAA Championships.

Ravita’s season was highlighted by a win over fourth-ranked Cristina Sanchez-Quintanar, winning the match 6-2, 4-6, 6-2.

Anderson (29-5) will move on to face Katie Le of Santa Clara in the second round. The sophomore is now 16-4 against nationally ranked opponents this year.
