LEXINGTON, Ky. – Through the midway point of the 2013 spring schedule the Kentucky volleyball team has an unblemished record. Kentucky has charted a 4-0 mark in two weekends of competition of the scheduled four-week spring slate.

The Blue and White generated a victory over Illinois at home during the only home contest of the spring schedule to begin the season March 30.

UK followed that performance with a 3-0 weekend at the KIVA Collegiate Tournament hosted in Louisville, Ky., April 6. Kentucky secured wins over Louisville, Illinois State and UT Martin on Saturday.

“We’re implementing a new offensive system this spring, and we’ve been able to string together some really good play,” UK coach Craig Skinner said. “We need to continue to work during the remaining weekends to continue smoothing out the new system.

“I’m proud of our effort and commitment to working hard, and that’s been very evident in our play. We still have a long way to go before our first tournament of the season this fall,” Skinner said.

Kentucky has two remaining weekends of competition for the spring schedule. UK travels to Indianapolis April 13 for the Circle City VBS Collegiate Tournament, before heading to West Lafayette, Ind., April 20 to take on Ball State and Purdue.

Fans are reminded that the team will host an interactive open practice in Memorial Coliseum April 19.

The event will begin with an open practice running from 4:30 p.m. ET to approximately 6 p.m. Special programs will be made available highlighting volleyball terminology and rules and the coaching staff will routinely explain each drill. Following practice, the team welcomes fans to a reception which will include food and a chance to interact with the coaching staff and team.

A question and answer session will highlight the night as fans will have the opportunity to get to know the Cats and ask about the upcoming 2013 season.

Fans wishing to attend this special event need to RSVP to Mandy Robbe in the UK Volleyball office by April 16. Reservations can be made by calling 859-257-2532 or by email at mandy.robbe@uky.edu.
