TAMPA, Fla. – The University of Kentucky men’s golf team will co-host the Gary Koch Invitational with Auburn at the Old Memorial Golf Club in Tampa, Fla., with a 36-hole shotgun start on Monday followed by 18 holes on Tuesday.
Along with UK and No. 21 Auburn, the rest of the field includes No. 11 Georgia Tech, No. 12 Florida, No. 16 North Florida, No. 19 Florida State, No. 25 Wake Forest, College of Charleston, Georgia Southern, Jacksonville, Ohio State, Pacific, South Florida and UNCG.
The Wildcats lineup will feature senior Chase Parker, juniors Cody Martin, Stephen Powers and Ben Stow and sophomore Will Bishop. Freshman Harrison Greenberry will compete in the event as an individual.
“The Gary Koch is our event that we are fortunate to host at the beautiful Old Memorial Golf Club in Tampa, FL.,” head coach Brian Craig said. “This year’s field is super competitive and the golf course will be firm and fast. I feel confident this team is ready to play great but our primary goal is to focus on the things we can control like our course management, attitudes and self-talk. “The Koch” should prove to be a championship caliber test for our guys and also a perfect preparation for the upcoming post-season events.”
Kentucky returns to action after tying for 10th at the Hootie at Bulls Bay tournament March 24-26. Powers was the highlight of the invitational for the Cats, recording his third top-10 finish of the spring and his first top-5 finish of the year, tying for fifth at 2-over-par.
The Gary Koch Invitational is the final tournament UK will compete in before the Southeastern Conference Championships, April 19-21 in St. Simons Island, Ga.
Play is scheduled to begin on Monday at 7:35 a.m. ET. Martin will tee off first for the Cats off of hole No. 1 at 8:20 a.m., with Bishop, Parker, Stow and Powers to follow, respectively, in nine minute intervals. Greenberry is slated to begin play at 9:32.
